Dear runners,
The 5th edition of the Glacier 3000 Run will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012.
To celebrate our 5-year anniversary this year, we will have a new category for Nordic Walking. Starting at 11h walkers will go 3km from Cabane to Scex Rouge while gaining 465 meters in altitude and crossing the finish line together with or slightly before the race’s top runners.
Since 5 years – the Glacier 3000 Run: the race course goes through a beautiful alpine landscape offering both runners and spectators many spectacular views. Between the starting point on the Gstaad Promenade at 1’050 meters and the finish line at Glacier 3000 (2’950 meters) lie 26 kilometers. The varying terrain and altitude gain of 1’900 meters is a challenge, even for experienced runners. Hence, the big joy and relief when crossing the finish line at the mountain top station Scex Rouge, after the last steep climb. Once on top, it’s time to relax and enjoy the fantastic alpine panorama.
Sports fans will be excited to find out whether the Brit Martin Cox will win the event for a fifth time in a row. Similarly, fans will be curious who will compete against the Swiss runner and women’s two-time winner, Daniela Gassmann Bahr, who has set new course records every time. We are convinced this year’s race will be very exciting for everyone involved.
We look forward to welcoming you on August 4th to the 5th Glacier 3000 Run!
