History

1959
The idea was raised to connect Col du Pillon to the Tsanfleuron glacier. Two initiative committees (one in the canton of Berne and one in the canton of Vaud) made a submission for a licence to operate a cableway in the area of the Diablerets massif. Commencement of preliminary work and permit request to operate a mountain lift. Permit granted by the Swiss Department of Transport on the condition that a link station was erected at the Cabane point of Les Diablerets.

1963
Commissioning of the LRD (Reusch aerial ropeway - Cabane des Diablerets AG) with the two route sections Reusch - Oldenegg and Oldenegg - Cabane. Opening of the track section Pillon - Pierres Pointes through the TPD (Téléphériques Pillon – Glacier des Diablerets SA).

1964
In July - at the same time as the national exhibition - the first continuous connection was commissioned on the Vaud side by means of aerial ropeways on the Diableret glaciers (Pillon - Pierres Pointes - Cabane - Glacier des Diablerets).

1971
Construction and opening of the first ski lift (Dôme ski lift) on the Tsansfleuron glacier, which enabled people to ski in the summer.

1977
Construction and commissioning of the Scex Rouge chairlift.

1979
Construction and commissioning of the new Dôme ski lift.

1983
Construction and commissioning of the Quille du Diable ski lift.

1993
Construction and commissioning of the Tsanfleuron ski lift.

1997
Foundation of the new "Glacier 3000 Région Les Diablerets - Gstaad SA" association following the merger of the former companies LRD and TPD (and deletion thereof from the commercial register). Start of renovation work on the existing mountain lifts. Construction of the new Reusch - Oldenegg aerial ropeway.

1999
The new Glacier 3000 aerial ropeway was commissioned in November.

2000
Start of construction work on Restaurant Botta 3000 (based on the plans of the renowned architect Mario Botta) in May. In October, the newly constructed 4-person chairlift Scex Rouge was ceremoniously opened.

2001
Restaurant Botta (mountain restaurant): opening of the self-service restaurant in May, followed by the commissioning of the restaurant with waiter service (4th floor) in June.

2005
Glacier 3000 was taken over by three new investors (Marcel Bach, Bernie Ecclestone and Jean-Claude Mimran) with the objective of making future investments in order to improve the experiential value and the quality of services on offer in the mountain destination. Foundation of the operating company Gstaad 3000 AG .

2006
At the beginning of the winter season (end of November), the new snow-making machine for the area between Olden saddle and Oldenalp was commissioned. The aim was to make it possible in future to operate the downhill run on the 7km Olden slope from as early as the beginning of December until the end of April subject to good conditions .

2007
26 May: opening of the Alpine Coaster on the first day of the summer season. The highest toboggan run in the world was the newest attraction of Glacier 3000's diverse offerings.
